The Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail spans 2,168 miles across Appalachian Mountain ridge lines, 40 miles of which crosses Maryland. The path is relatively easy compared to the difficulty of the entire trail, with only a 1,650-foot elevation change. As you hike, you will see beautiful overlooks and head through historical sites. You can hike the entire 40 miles in about three or four days if you like to backpack, and stay at trail shelters and campgrounds that are spaced approximately a day apart. You can also opt for a day hike if you don't want to spend time on the trail overnight. The resort features a pool with an inflatable waterslide, basketball court, park, and shuffleboard. Pets are allowed, and there is a nice nature trail that you can explore while you are there. The area is rural and peaceful, and a great place to get outdoors and enjoy some time away from the city.

Allen Pond Park

Sandy Point State Park

The Sandy Point State Park is on the Northwestern shore of Chesapeake Bay. It is a 786-acre state park. Visitors can try their hands at fishing and crabbing in the park, and there is night fishing that you can enjoy after hours. Be sure you have your fishing license with you if you decide to go fishing. There are also trails where you can explore, beaches where you can relax on, and areas where you can swim while there.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

At Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, there are opportunities to explore the ponds and hear the sounds of the wildlife that inhabits the area. Visitors can enjoy birding and amazing photography opportunities. There are also events, including the Ranger Programs and the Lotus and Water Lily Festival in July.
