Greenbelt Park
Do you love the great outdoors? Then Greenbelt Park is the place for you! With 174 campsites you can visit for a day or stay all week. At this park, you can explore nine miles of trails and take breaks to take in the view at the picnic areas. If you're bringing children along, check out the junior park ranger's booklet for plenty of fun and educational activities!
Prince Georges African American Museum and Cultural Center
If you are looking for a cultural and educational experience, this museum will definitely check all of your boxes! You can check out their exhibitions, which regularly change, African American heritage, and you can even participate with the museum and share the history of your family to participate in one of the Pop Up Museum events.
Bladensburg Dueling Grounds
If you are a history buff, you will definitely want to check out the Bladensburg Dueling Grounds. This location is just north of Fort Lincoln Cemetery and is the home of more than fifty duels that occurred throughout the 19th century! One of the most notable duels includes a famous dispute between Commodore James Barron and Commodore Stephen Decatur in 1820.
Bladensburg Waterfront Park
Come get your feet wet at this beautiful waterfront park! Participate in all of your favorite water activities including fishing, row boating, and paddle boating! For those who prefer to stay on land, check out the hiking and biking trails, playground, and the B&O railroad caboose! This is a great option for a family trip filled with a full day of fun.
Murugan Temple of North America
This Hindu temple opened in 1999 and was the very first temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, also known as Karthikeya, in the United States. This is something you won't find anywhere but in New Carrollton! You can enjoy the stunning architecture and experience a new culture at this unique temple.
World War II Memorial
This is another great option on our list for history buffs. This monument was erected to honor the soldiers in Maryland who fought during World War II. The large curved wall features the names of 27 soldiers who died in battle during the war and a statue of Victory. After viewing the monument, you can enjoy a stroll or a picnic in the surrounding park for a relaxing afternoon.
